Overview

Voice of Commons is a media and communication agency. During my time here, I was responsible for designing social media campaigns, banners, motion posters, campaign reels, and speech highlight cuts. The workload was fast-paced, requiring me to translate trending news or political updates into structured graphics within hours.

Campaign design requires a combination of speed and clear visual storytelling. When public attention spans are measured in seconds, clarity beats complexity.

Campaign Challenges

Political campaigns operate under short deadlines and high scrutiny. Key challenges included:

  • High Turnaround Speed: Generating graphics, banners, and reels in response to real-time events, sometimes requiring same-hour delivery.
  • Diverse Deliverables: Designing everything from large outdoor banners and event posters to mobile-first Reels, vertical posts, and PDF pamphlets.
  • Political Branding: Maintaining brand parameters for Dr. K. Sudhakar (Former Health Minister of Karnataka), ensuring typography and layout projected trust and professionalism.

Visual Production

I optimized my pipeline to handle high volume without compromising style:

  • Template Structures: Built modular Illustrator and After Effects template grids for news layouts, speech quotes, and event updates, allowing rapid asset production.
  • Video Editing & Pacing: Cut speech audio, matched background rhythms, and overlayed text captions to keep video reels readable on silent feeds.
  • Typography Hierarchy: Prioritized strong, bold titles with high color contrasts, making them easily legible on low-resolution screen shares.

Deliverables & Impact

Over a 15-month period, our team delivered a substantial volume of creative assets:

  • Social Media Creatives: Shipped over 500+ graphics, banners, and vector assets.
  • Reels & Video Cuts: Edited dynamic campaign summaries and interviews that generated high voter engagement online.
  • Event Visibility: Supported branding visuals for regional political events, ensuring consistent communication across offline and online channels.

Key Learnings

  • Speed is a Feature: Designing systems that allow you to produce assets in 30 minutes is just as valuable as designing single pixel-perfect projects.
  • Legibility First: Political communication targets a wide age demographic. Clean typography, high contrast, and simple structures are essential for readability.
  • Collaborative Alignment: Working under tight timelines requires clear communication between designers, copywriters, and campaign managers to avoid design changes.
